Kate Bombony is a Portuguese artist of Ukrainian origin based in Lisbon whose work explores the relationship between structure, emotion, and transformation. Bombony’s background in architecture continues to shape the visual language of her work today. Before fully dedicating herself to her artistic practice, she co-founded Woometry, a creative carpentry studio focused on recycled wood.

It was there that she began experimenting with the relationship between color, geometry, and spatial perception. By transforming flat surfaces into dimensional visual experiences, she developed many of the ideas that would later define her artistic work.

Her compositions still carry traces of architectural thinking, but they are softened by emotion, intuition, and organic movement.

Her experience of unmedicated birth, raising two daughters independently, and searching for a sense of homeland within herself all became central influences within her practice.

These experiences reshaped the way she approached creation. For Bombony, art became connected to instinct, vulnerability, spirituality, and authenticity.
